Mike Wallace to Drive for RCR at Talladega

WELCOME, N.C. (Sept. 25, 2008) -- Realtree®, the home of America’s most versatile camo patterns, will sponsor Richard Childress Racing’s No. 33 Realtree Driven to the Outdoors Chevrolet and driver Mike Wallace in the Oct. 5 Amp Energy 500 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway.

RCR and Realtree, based in Columbus, Ga., have a long-standing relationship. Realtree president Bill Jordan and RCR president and CEO Richard Childress have been personal friends for decades and Team Realtree first sponsored the legendary Dale Earnhardt and RCR’s No. 3 GM Goodwrench team in 1997. Team Realtree also sponsors Team Dillon Racing's Ty Dillon, the younger grandson of Childress, in the Fastrak Racing Series Dirt Late Model Touring Division.

"Fall is in the air, Talladega is on the schedule and Realtree is running a Chevy Driven to the Outdoors Impala SS in the Sprint Cup Series. It doesn't get much better than that for all of us at Realtree and racing and hunting fans everywhere," said Jordan. "Of course, working with an avid outdoorsman like Richard Childress to bring this No. 33 team to the track makes it that much better. The only thing that could improve this situation is for Mike Wallace to push that Chevy to the front!"

Wallace, of St. Louis, Mo., is currently eighth in the 2008 NASCAR Nationwide Series driver point standings after 28 of 35 races. Talladega will be his first Cup Series start of the season but he has 186 career starts since making his series debut in 1991. In two Cup Series races in 2007, he finished fourth in the Daytona 500 and 19th at the fall race at Talladega.

“Running a car for Richard Childress Racing is incredibly exciting to me. I’m thrilled to death because it’s something that I have wanted to do my whole career and I couldn’t be happier than to do it with a fun sponsor like Team Realtree that has been around this sport for a long time makes it that much more satisfying. I’m excited to be working with Richard, Mike Dillon and all the guys at the shop. It’s supposed to be a really fast car so I hope to go to Talladega and sit on the pole and win the race.”
